My name is Katie, and I love sitting in semi-circles for story time. I love lakes, cats, banter, marshmallow-scented candles, peppermint oat milk matchas, and the fight for the last word. I think that my nails should only ever be painted blue, that karma will seek a debt from every landlord in the world, and that fairies might as well be real. I've never seen a firefly, told my friend Max that I was in love with him, or drunk a Red Bull. My lucky color is yellow, but my favourite number is 8. I'm from northern British Columbia, Canada (deep in the woodland), and after all this oversharing, would you even believe me if I said I was a Scorpio?

To be slightly less candid, I love writing lyrics. Playing and puzzling with language gives me an endorphin rush. I'm a longtime Taylor Swift stan (I wrote my first song the day after I saw the 1989 tour, but I'll get into my undying love for her later). I also love Hozier, The Paper Kites, Joni Mitchell, and a series of 2000s pop songs from my mum's collection of "NOW!" compilation CDs. Because of those influences, I find myself blending pop hooks with folky lyrics and instrumentals. I'm overly self-critical, I overshare, and I have an overactive imagination—all likely stemming from the father-shaped hole I have overarching my youth. We can joke !
